A new review in the Barre Times-Argus is located on the Review page.
Up on the Mountain was released in May of 2008. It is a new studio CD that was produced by the noted musician and sound sculptor John Huling (Spiritlands, Ancestral Waters). It was recorded primarily in John's studio in Southern Vermont and is a stunning new collection of songs featuring the powerful and moving cello playing of Bennington's Nathaniel Parke. It retains Spencer's trademark sound of violins and guitars, yet possesses a texture and mood never heard on any of Spencer's previous recordings.
Also being released this summer is a live concert CD called The Drifter. Recorded at the Christ Church for Montpelier, Vermont's 2008 First Night event, this recording finally offers the many sides of his prolific musical career by allowing the listener to hear a balanced combination of both solo instrumentals, his fine singer—songwriter skills, and his creative looping techniques.
