Spencer Lewis will perform his signature combination of reflective instrumental folk grooves and his own singer-songwriter folk that rocks for a Double CD release concert at ArtistTree in Pomfret, VT on Feb 3rd. Lewis released his 26th instrumental album Souls in the spring of 2016 and From Now To Now this month, his 27th official release and first studio album of original songs with vocals in 16 years! Although FNTN features a full folk rock ensemble with Jay Ekis on electric guitar, the amazing keyboardist Chas Eller (Killamanjaro) and the great drummers Jeff Berlin (Bow Thayer) and Bret Hoffman (Dave Keller), this concert will feature its two bass players: Eric Graham from the group Haywire and multi-instrumentalist Scott Paulson (Panhandlers), who has performed and recorded with Spencer for the last 16 years. Hillary Leicher, who adds harmony vocals will also be a guest for the evening. Admission to the concert is $20 or 2 for $30, which includes a free CD of Souls and a download card for From Now To Now.
Lewis' only other album release concert was for his first album, Weeding the Garden 28 years ago in 1988 in Stockbridge, VT at a venue called Annabelle's.
About Spencer Lewis:
Spencer Lewis is a purveyor of reflective instrumental folk grooves whose signature sound combines the precision of the acoustic guitar with the sustained elegance of the violin that he performs on stage by the live-looping of guitar and violin overdubs. This method of live-looping allows him to move in unpredictable directions, often spontaneously, drawing upon the varied compositions he has amassed from his internationally known 28-album catalog. From Now To Now contains songs that reflect the personnel and universal change that surrounds us all. His music, including links to You Tube, Soundcloud and other exclusive material, can be found on his web site http://www.spencerlewismusic.com.
“Vermont has a poet laureate, so why not a music laureate?
I propose Spencer Lewis”
- Maria Buteux Reade, Edible Green Mountains (Fall/ Winter’15)
“A terrifically gifted guitarist and violinist. Lewis crafts inviting rustic soundscapes - Americana for the new-age set.”
– Dan Bolles, Seven Days
“As a fiddler in the old time tradition, his ‘97 release his Lighter Than Fancy reveals Lewis to be an inventive, serendipitous writer of old-time fiddle tunes with melodies that are as timeless as any they emulate.”
-Pamela Polston, Seven Days
