Riffs on a Broad Reach & In My Arms
In sailing terms, a broad reach is achieved when the wind is nearly full in the sails and this album encapsulates that feeling. The backbone of the album uses both crunchy electric and driving acoustic guitars, including Spencer’s inimitable cross-flat-picking. There's bass, organ, melodic synthesizer passages, dancing mandolin, and drums both steady or hanging by a thread. Soaring over the top is Lewis’ iconic violin, cutting through like the bow of a boat in high seas. A very different album for longtime fans of Lewis' work. Click the album cover above for the iTunes page or this link where an embedded music player allows you to sample the whole album and buy a CD. There's also a YouTube video of the opening song on the album. To all my longtime listeners: I haven't gone crazy as folk rock first appeared in my catalog on one of my highest watermarks, the '98 release The Silence Between the Words.
I also digitally re-released the children's album I made from 2002: In My Arms which features unique interpretations of nursery rhymes. folk songs, and original lullabies; soothing, rollicking and pure fun.
There's a few concerts coming up on the event page of my site. If anyone wants to book a wedding, host a house concert, or have me perform in your local performing arts center, please contact me. My concerts are intimate, uplifting, and spontaneous with the live looping of both guitar and violin. Speaking of live, I often post live music moments as well as pictures of my cats on my spencerlewismusic Instagram page.
To everyone who finds me on Pandora, Spotify, Amazon or the vast digital pipleline: Thanks for listening.
